Lasting Powers of Attorney

We can help you establish the neccesary Lasting Powers of Attorney to be used in the event that you become unable to make decisions for yourself in the future.

Lasting Powers of Attorney came into force in October 2007 as replacements for Enduring Powers of Attorney, and allow you to appoint another person, or persons (attorneys), to make decisions on your behalf should you become unable to do so. There are two kinds of Lasting Powers of Attorney:

Health and Welfare

This Power of Attorney enables your attorney(s) to make decisions regarding your personal welfare, and can include whether to give or refuse consent to medical treatment on your behalf, and also in deciding where you live if you do not have the mental capacity to decide for yourself.

Property and Financial Affairs

This Power of Attorney enables your attorney(s) to make decisions regarding your personal finances and investments, the payment of bills, bank accounts and your property.

We will guide you through the entire process of helping you to decide who to appoint as your attorney(s) in these matters, preparing and completing the documents and having the document registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, giving your attorney(s) legal authority to act on your behalf.
