A terraced, characterful two-bedroom property in the market town of Wem with private parking, ideal as a starter home or a buy-to-let.

The Property

No. 4 Ellesmere Road is a two-bedroom terraced house which would make an ideal starter home for a small family, or as a buy-to-let property.

The property is accessed off Ellesmere Road with the front door opening directly into the living room with a front aspect window. There is a useful storage space to the left of the entrance door The living room is fitted with an electric fire which has a “living flame” effect.

From the living room, a part-glazed door leads through to a narrow passage. Stairs from here lead up to the first floor. There is an understairs storage cupboard.

The bathroom is fitted with a suite consisting of a panelled bath with shower over, a low-level WC and pedestal hand wash basin. The shower area is tiled all the way to the ceiling, with partial tiling to the remainder of the wall. There is a large heated towel rail to the side.

The bright, airy kitchen is situated at the other end of the passage from the living room, adjacent to the bathroom. The kitchen has a range of wall and base units with contrasting worktops, and is fitted with an electric oven and hob. There is a stainless steel single drainer and sink with mixer tap over, and space underneath the worktop counter for other appliances.

Double doors from the kitchen open out directly into the paved patio area of the rear yard, which could be a useful space for a barbeque. The remainder of the yard is gravelled, with wooden fencing on two sides.

The master bedroom is of a good size, with a front aspect window and a useful storage area. There is a small fireplace here with a brick arch over, and a stone flagged hearth. This is an interesting, possibly original, feature. The boiler is situated in a cupboard in the second bedroom.

Throughout the property, there are attractive exposed wall and ceiling beams which add to the character of the house. The windows and doors are all double glazed, and gas central heating is provided.

The car parking area is accessed off the corner of High Street and Ellesmere Road, leading to the far end of the yard. There is the possibility of fencing off the yard to make a proper parking space for one vehicle, utilising the remaining space to perhaps create a green area. There is definitely scope for improvement and personalisation here.

The Local Area

4 Ellesmere Road is situated within comfortable walking distance of Wem town centre and the local shops and amenities. There are excellent doctors, dentists, schools and independent shops within the town, as well as a supermarket and a good selection of pubs and eateries. The larger towns of Shrewsbury and Whitchurch are only a few miles drive away, and there are rail links directly from Wem Station to Crewe to the north, and Shrewsbury, Birmingham and London to the south.
